Detalle de: Incorporation of new diversity sources to the Spanish cherimoya germplasm bank and development of additional conservation methods

Title Incorporation of new diversity sources to the Spanish cherimoya germplasm bank and development of additional conservation methods
Description

In this project we propose to continue with the optimization in the management of the cherimoya germplasm bank maintained at the IHSM La Mayora. For that, we plan to complement the characterization of the bank with a thorough characterization of the core collection developed in the previous project, increase the genetic diversity preserved in the bank through the incorporation of new germplasm from the putative primary cherimoya area of origin in Central America and apply additional conservation methods such as in vitro cold storage. The proposal is structured along three main objectives: 1) Thorough characterization of the recently established core collection. 2) Introduction, through germplasm exchange, of new germplasm from Central American countries. 3) Application of additional germplasm conservation methods: in vitro cold storage
