| Description |
The CEBAS-CSIC “Grupo de Mejora Genética de Frutales (GMGF)”, founded in the 1970s, is a well-established group with over 40 years of experience and in continuous evolution. It currently consists of 2 Research Professors (Dr Federico Dicenta incorporated to the group in 1985 and Dr Pedro Martínez, 1995, PI of the project), 1 Research Scientist (Dr David Ruiz, 2002), 4 Associate Scientists (Dr. Manuel Rubio, 1999-Head of the Group); Dr Raquel Sánchez, 2002; Dr Pedro José Martínez, 2005; and Dr. José A Egea, 2018), 2 postdoctoral researchers (Dr. Juan A Salazar, 2011, Ramón y Cajal Contract and Dr. Alvaro Delgado, 2023, Juan de la Cierva Contract). Furthermore, we have 3 PhD FPU Fellows students (Jorge Mas Gómez, 2020; Francisco J Gómez, 202; Germán Ortuño, 2021), 2 PhD FPI Fellows students (Lucia Rodriguez, 2023; Mª del Mar Gómez, 2023), 1 PhD CSIC Momentum Fellow student (Eva Mª López, 2024), and a M2-CSIC technical assistant (Teresa Cremades). So, we are 15 researchers (9 PhD) in total. The scientific activity of the group is vertically organised in three Prunus breeding programs (almond, apricot and plum), and transversely by three research lines supporting the programs, but with their own identity (phenomic, genomic, modelling) to increase future resilience in the new varieties Principal investigator: Pedro Martínez Gómez Participants: Federico Dicenta, Manuel Rubio, David Ruiz, Raquel Sanchez, Jose Alberto Egea, Juan Alfonso Salazar, Pedro J Martínez García, Alvaro Delgado |
