Detalle de: Pattern formation in a model for prebiotic evolution

Title Pattern formation in a model for prebiotic evolution
Abstract

The dynamics of a catalytic network formed by four kinds of self-replicative species (replicators) with nonspecific catalytic capabilities is analysed. The evolution takes place in an extended closed reactor, so that the total population is kept constant. In the limit of no diffusion, the system exhibits tristability between chaos and two fixed points for a particular set of parameters. We show that under this setup, the system undergoes pattern formation when diffusive forces are considered. The biological implications of these results within a hypothetic prebiotic scenario (RNA-world) are also discussed.
