| Abstract |
This article was published in Mol Microbiol (1998) 30(2): 259–264. Three cDNA clones were obtained in this work. One was sequenced in its entirety, and the other two were partially sequenced to determine their 5′ and 3′ ends. Recently, all three were fully resequenced (F. Sánchez and E. A. Espeso, unpublished). Whereas the two published introns are excised from the originally fully sequenced clone, a third intron is also excised from the other two. Only the three intron-excised form is detectable using reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction (RT–PCR) with total RNA from acid- or alkaline-grown wild-type mycelia (F. Sánchez and E. A. Espeso, unpublished). It therefore seems appropriate to consider the two intron-excised cDNA as having been synthesized from an immature mRNA template. Taking into account the third intron, the conceptually translated protein would contain 549 residues, the AK dipeptide replacing residues 548–601 of the published protein sequence. None of the other conclusions of the paper is affected, and the database entry (accession number AJ007629) has been corrected. |
