Detalle de: Reactive Oxygen Species and Nitric Oxide Production, Regulation and Function During Defense Response

Title Reactive Oxygen Species and Nitric Oxide Production, Regulation and Function During Defense Response
Abstract

Although plants are sessile organisms and they are continuously exposed to microbe interactions, they are surprisingly resistant organisms. Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) are signaling molecules involved in many physiological processes in plants. Especially, ROS and nitric oxide (NO) are key players that are required for programmed cell death (PCD) and defense response. After pathogen recognition through plant receptors (PRRs) a cascade of signals is triggered to arrest pathogen growth and spread with ROS and RNS playing a key function in this network. Deciphering the time and spatial production and regulation of ROS and NO source and level is very important for establishing the cellular response of plants to adverse conditions. This chapter review the latest data regarding production, regulation and function of ROS and RNS in plants during defense response.
