Title Report of the TRICAP (Three‐way methods in Chemistry and Psychology) meeting, Vall de Núria, Spain, 14–19 June 2009
Abstract

Last June, the VIth TRICAP meeting was held at the resort of Nu ´ria in the Catalan Pyrenees, approximately 130 km north of Barcelona. The location was sited at an altitude of almost 2000 m and it was surrounded by mountain peaks of more than 2700 m at the border with France. It was only accessible by foot or by rack railway from the nearby towns of Queralbs and Ribes de Fresser. The conference was held at the Hotel Vall de Nu ´ria. This quiet location gave an excellent environment for the participants to concentrate on their presentations, discussions and to establish communication among themselves and extend their contacts. The meeting lasted for 4 days and comprised a tight scientific programme with 28 oral presentations of 40 min plus 15 min of discussion, and a recreational programme including a half day hike to one of the summits in the surrounding area (Puigmal, 2913 m above sea level) and other open-air activities. The total number of invited participants was 32 and five persons were involved in the organization of the event, which gave a total number of 37 participants, more or less the same as in previous years.Among countries, the participants from Spain were 7 (5 from the organization), United States 6, Netherlands 6, Belgium 4, Italy 4, Denmark 3, France 2, Greece 1, Germany 1, Sweden 1, Poland 1 and China 1.Following the tradition of previous TRICAP meetings, participation was by invitation and most of the participants delivered an oral presentation followed by a discussion. This format facilitates discussion and interaction among all the people in the meeting. The programme was divided into four sessions: multiway data analysis, theoretical aspects (with eight oral presentations), multiway data analysis, computational aspects (with eight presentations), multiset data analysis (four presentations) and multiway and multiset data analysis, applications (eight presentations). The subjects of the presentations, however, were rather flexible and many times overlapped among different sessions. This is also a consequence of the fact that theoretical and computational aspects are intimately related in the multiway data analysis field. In the first session, advances in PARAFAC2
