Detalle de: Integrative Bioinformatics for Plant Stres (iBIP)

Title Integrative Bioinformatics for Plant Stres (iBIP)
Description

[EN] Since plants cannot move, they have to face many environmental stresses. Plant stresses can result in limited growth and productivity of crop species. Particularly in agricultural settings, salt stress is a common issue. Plant stress responses aim at establishing a new equilibrium when suboptimal environmental conditions appear. Stress responses can be analysed and described at a phenotypic, physiological, biochemical, and molecular level; our research interest relies on the integration of separate biological information (ecophysiology, variants, gene expression, metagenomics, phenology, enzymes… all obtained in natural environments) by means of bioinformatic approaches to relate genes, microbiota, phenotypes. The integration contemplates both new experimental data as well as under-analysed public data by means of automated workflows to warrant reusability, replicability, and reproducibility. We envisage the application of machine learning, data mining and systems biology to infer the co-adaptation of crops (such as citrus, olive, and even tomato and photosynthetic model organisms such as microalgae) as well as their microbiome to the climate change and other suboptimal environmental conditions.
