| Title | Microbiome, Nutrition and Health |
| Description |
The Microbiome and Innovation in Nutrition and Health group focuses on research into the human microbiome and how the microbiome interacts with the environment (diet, stress) and the human body, influencing all aspects of health and disease. The group has made significant contributions to elucidating the role that the gut microbiota plays in the transition from health to disease through its interaction with the host’s diet and immune and neuroendocrine systems. The conditions studied range from obesity to neurological disorders. The team also works on identifying key gut bacteria that could provide health benefits and on developing dietary strategies that, by modulating the microbiome, reduce the risk of disease. The group has experience in epidemiological and intervention studies in humans and in advanced in vitro and in vivo experimental models, as well as in “omics” technologies (metagenomics/transcriptomics, metabolomics, etc.). The ultimate goal is to develop new microbiome-based diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic solutions and to contribute to the promotion of health. Translated with DeepL.com (free version) |
