Biography

I am a PhD researcher at the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (IRNASA-CSIC), which belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). My current research focuses on understanding how crops respond and adapt to climate change, with particular emphasis on wheat as a key species for global food security. I investigate the physiological, biochemical and transcriptional responses of traditional and modern bread wheat varieties to elevated CO₂, high temperature and water deficit, aiming to identify traits and genetic resources that can support climate-resilient breeding strategies. Previously, I worked as a senior laboratory technician at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICA-CSIC), where I contributed to research on soil biodiversity, plant-microorganism interactions and soil restoration strategies under environmental stress, including heavy metal contamination. This experience allowed me to develop strong expertise in soil physicochemical analyses, microbial ecology, NGS-based metabarcoding, bioinformatics pipelines, and advanced multivariate and mixed-effects statistical modeling. My academic training includes a Master's degree in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and a Master's degree in Biotechnology, which underpin my ability to integrate experimental biology with robust data analysis. I enjoy working in multidisciplinary and collaborative research environments and actively participate in scientific dissemination, mentoring and outreach activities. My long-term goal is to contribute to the development of sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural systems by integrating fundamental plant science with applied crop improvement strategies. |
