Biography
|
Predoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Parasitología y Biomedicina López-Neyra (IPBLN-CSIC), Department of Cell Biology and Immunology, in the Genetic Basis of Autoimmune Diseases group, working on the genetic basis of giant cell arteritis. Highlighted result: the description of 3 new genetic regions associated with the development of giant cell arteritis through a genome-wide association study (GWAS). I have always been interested in the application of scientific discoveries in society and how they can revolutionise our way of life. I now work on translating and expanding basic knowledge of complex diseases and bringing it to the clinic, in the hope of establishing better treatments, prevention methods and biomarkers through the use of big data. Scientific wish: to improve basic knowledge of complex diseases in order to achieve a medicine more personalised to each patient. |
