Epidemiology and Environmental Health · INIA-CISA

Biography

I hold a PhD in veterinary epidemiology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and work as a researcher in the Epidemiology and Environmental Health Group of the CISA (Animal Health Research Centre) of the Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agraria (INIA-CSIC). My research focuses on epidemiological studies of infectious diseases relevant to animal health, especially at the domestic-wildlife-human interface, under a One Health approach. We use spatial and conventional epidemiology techniques that make it possible, among other things, to develop real-time surveillance systems and cartographic viewers to view and explore the results easily. The ultimate goal of this research is to improve knowledge of disease dynamics in order to improve the design of disease prevention and control plans. Many of the results obtained have been transferred and applied at national and international level to improve surveillance and control plans for diseases of great relevance to animal or public health, such as highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), African swine fever (ASF), SARS-CoV-2, rabies or salmonella. External researcher of the MOMACYT group (Mathematical Modelling in Science and Technology) since 2025.
