Chief Researcher at NEIKER (Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development), in the Animal Science research group. PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1998) with the thesis "Coinfecciones víricas producidas por rhabdovirus-birnavirus en salmónidos", supervised by Dr. S. Rodríguez Saint-Jean. Her work on genetic markers to evaluate and improve susceptibility, resistance and tolerance to paratuberculosis in cattle breeding programmes led to the operational group GO_INMUNOGEN, and she has supervised doctoral theses at the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU) on the early diagnosis of, genomic resistance to and host response against bovine paratuberculosis.
