Hey there! I am a computer vision engineer with a strong impulse for biomedical research. I was first trained as a telecommunications engineer, then I became fascinated by machine learning during my master’s and finally I got involved in biomedical research during my PhD. My research experience is very varied, but I have always focused on machine learning, deep learning and computer vision for biological and biomedical tasks. During my PhD, I developed computational tools to automatically profile the behaviors of neutrophils in 4D intravital microscopy, which enabled the discovery of pathogenic states in scenarios of inflammation. After this stage, I joined the group of Dr. Andrés Hidalgo in Yale University to extend these studies to other scenarios: aging, cancer, ... with the objective of demonstrating that these behaviors are inherent to neutrophils (not only determined by the microenvironment) and the further aim of investigating the causes of such diversity. In addition to my main line of research, during my career I have performed several research in the field of biomedical dataset selection, computer-aided diagnosis for ultrasound renal imaging and transport applications. Now, I have joined imAIgene-lab as a researcher to discover the biological patterns in the context of tumor progression and how they contribute to the outcome of the disease. I am thrilled to contribute to more translational approaches that improve the prognosis of patients with serious diseases. |
