Biography

I am a biochemist from southern Spain. From an early age, I knew I wanted to become a scientist and I remain deeply connected to that childhood curiosity that first drew me to biotechnology. During my undergraduate studies, I participated in both national and international research projects (iGEM, Erasmus+) across diverse fields, including Parasitology, Virology, Synbio and Biomedicine. These experiences provided me with a solid interdisciplinary background and allowed me to develop strong molecular biology skills through hands-on laboratory work.I complemented my training with Bioinformatics, progressively shifting my perspective toward Systems Biology. I gained industry experience through an internship focused on the generation and processing of NGS data. Following this, I began my predoctoral research in academia, where I work on the development of novel control strategies against phytopathogenic fungi using bioinformatics and RNAi approaches. I am deeply motivated by the understanding and application of biological knowledge, particularly in contexts where fundamental research can be translated into real-world impact. Science is not only my career path, but also my ikigai. Experience: PhD student at IHSM La Mayora (UMA-CSIC, since March 2024), thesis "Targeting Obligate Biotrophy through Computational Biology for Powdery Mildew Control" (directors: Prof. Alejandro Pérez-García and Dr. Álvaro Polonio). Visiting PhD student at Universitat Jaume I (Oct-Dec 2025): dual untargeted metabolomics with Prof. Victoria Pastor. Junior Scientist at Kimitec (2023): genomics for the design of plant probiotic products and 16S rRNA metagenomics of soil microbial communities. |
