Biography

Currently, I am a Research Support Technician (PTA) at the Institute for Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio) within the BCBHub project (CSIC Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Connection). In this role, I manage a portfolio of 90 bioinformatics tools on the BCBHub portal, ensuring their technical functionality, optimization, and user support. I hold a PhD in Microbial Ecology and previously served as a Pre-doctoral Assistant Professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). My research centered on microbial community assembly and the application of phylogenetic signal as a framework to unravel ecological and functional patterns in microbiomes. During my doctoral studies, I explored phylogenetic core groups (PCGs) as a functional framework, integrating computational biology and bioinformatics approaches including network analysis, functional annotation, and metabolic modeling. My background includes a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from the UAM and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the Universidad de Granada (UGR). Additionally, I have also contributed to international research projects as a Visiting Researcher at The University of Tokyo and NTNU, strengthening my expertise in microbial ecology and quantitative analysis of biological data. I taught in the Degree in Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, with 194 h in total: as Teaching Assistant (Ayudante, 2022-2025, 164 h) in Genetics (3rd year, laboratory practicals) and Integrated Laboratory (4th year, laboratory and computer practicals), and previously as auxiliary teacher in Genetics (2019-2020, 30 h) under a Department of Biology grant for research in Master's studies. |
