Detalle de: Ecology of Marine Microbes
| Title | Ecology of Marine Microbes |
| Description |
The group includes the LOG-Lab (Ramiro Logares), focused on the ecology, evolution and interaction networks of marine microbes through omics and computational approaches (https://log-lab.barcelona/). [EN] The group was created in 1997 as a Quality Group (Generalitat de Catalunya) and became a CSIC group in 2004. Currently it includes 6 senior scientists, 4 postdocs, 11 PhD students and 7 technicians. Its main goal is understanding the ecological performance of marine microbes. The group applies complementary tools to samples from oceanographic cruises, a coastal station established in 2001, and lab experiments. It also maintains analytical platforms for molecular biology, flow cytometry, microscopy and bioinformatics. The group is funded by National and EU projects and has participated in the Malaspina and TaraOceans circumnavigations. Since 2013, the group has published 176 papers in ISI journals, including Nature, Science, PLoS Biol, and PNAS. Most papers (84%) have been published in Q1 journals and 25% in journals with IF >9. The group has a strong commitment to outreach participating in local and international events addressed to high schools or general public. |
