Detalle de: Quality, Sustainability and Nutrigenomics in Swine Production

Title Quality, Sustainability and Nutrigenomics in Swine Production
Description

[EN] Our research is focused on the study of the genetic and molecular basis of the main productive and quality traits of animal-derived foods. It pays special attention to Iberian pig products, and to the development of breeding and traceability strategies for animals and products, using genetic and omic tools.

The improvement of the production of foods of animal origin, at quantitative and qualitative levels, is important for society and fundamental for the competitiveness of livestock systems, being the efficiency and food quality traits the most relevant today. The new omics techniques allow powerful and complex approaches focused both on understanding the genetic and metabolic basis of productive traits, as well as on the development of biomarkers and the optimization of breeding programs. Our studies are complemented with the analysis of the interactions between the animal and their different nutritional resources, such as functional foods, studying their repercussion on the metabolism, physiology and phenotype of the animal and on the sustainability of the productive system.
