Detalle de: Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology

Title Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology
Description

The department is devoted to the study of the effects of global change and extreme environments on the structure and functioning of ecosystems, including the ecological implications of microorganisms in biogeochemical cycles and the degradation of organic compounds. Our goal is to obtain a mechanistic view of ecosystems in order to model biogeochemical processes in the face of global change drivers. The department is made up of a multidisciplinary group of researchers specialising in biogeochemistry, aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, microbial ecology and geomicrobiology. The department has three interrelated research lines: (1) ecosystem biogeochemistry; (2) microbial ecology and geomicrobiology; and (3) organic matter chemistry.
