Title Plant-virus interaction
Description

[EN] Plant viral diseases are a global problem. Whitefly-transmitted viruses such as begomoviruses (genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae) or criniviruses (genus Crinivirus, family Closteroviridae) are a major concern emerging worldwide. We are interested in two major aspects: i) understanding the structure, genetic diversity and evolution of plant virus populations, and ii) understanding the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying the complex plant-virus and virus-virus interplay, important for the development of diseases and the establishment of resistance. In our group we intend to control plant pathogenic viruses through the effective use of natural genetic resistance and through the interference with the pathogenic processes.
