Researcher

Alejandro Honorino Estévez Vega

Biography

Data Scientist, AI Engineer, and Bioinformatician with a background in Biotechnology. I combine data analysis and machine learning with a biological approach. I have four years of experience in the Omics and Bioinformatics Service at the Cajal Neuroscience Center (Ci2A – CSIC), where I have worked on spatial transcriptomics, single-cell and bulk RNA-seq, and proteomics.

I design R and Python pipelines for data analysis, train predictive models, and develop multimodal integration solutions for omics data. My education includes a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, a master’s degree in Bioinformatics, and a master’s degree in Data Science and AI. I primarily work with Python, scikit-learn, Scanpy, R, and Seurat.

I am open to opportunities as a Data Scientist, AI Engineer, Data Analyst, or Bioinformatician.

Experience: Bioinformatics and Data Scientist at the Alcalá de Henares Center for Interdisciplinary Research (Ci2A-CSIC, since Dec 2024): bioinformatics and machine learning for single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics; R tools and pipelines, GitLab management; a cell annotation method combining RCTD spatial deconvolution with marker-based annotation; a proteomic aging clock and multimodal omics integration. Previously bioinformatician with laboratory technician duties at the Cajal Neuroscience Center (CNC-CSIC, 2023-2024): bulk, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics analyses, and generation and sequencing of spatial RNA-seq libraries.
