Service Unit

Detalle de: Genome Editing Unit at CRAG

Title Genome Editing Unit at CRAG
Description

The Genome Editing Unit provides an integrated platform to design, generate and characterize edited plants for basic and applied research in climate-smart agriculture. Embedded within the Plant Growth Core Facility of the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), the Unit combines advanced tissue culture and transformation pipelines with state-of-the-art CRISPR-based tools, enabling the efficient modification of a wide range of crop and model species.

Building on CRAG's expertise in synthetic biology, phenotyping and big-data analysis, the Unit supports projects aimed at developing crops with improved resilience to stresses associated with climate change, optimizing traits linked to yield and quality, and engineering plants and microalgae as sustainable biofactories and biostimulant producers.

It offers advice and hands-on support across the full experimental workflow, from project conception and gRNA design to vector construction and production of edited plants. Through strong links with the CRAG Bioinformatics Unit and the Microscopy and Imaging Facility, it also promotes the use of digital tools and AI-driven analyses to assist in the generation of edited crops. Set up within the Momentum CSIC programme. Unit lead: Aime Jaskolowski.
