The lab is dedicated to understanding gene regulation and the epigenetic basis of rapid adaptation in pathogens, a fundamental question of utmost importance in the current context of emerging and reemerging infectious diseases and climate change. We focus on malaria parasites, which are a hallmark example of natural genomic variation and phenotypic plasticity, with an emphasis on their life cycle in the Anopheles mosquito vectors.
