Title Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Unit at IPBLN
Description

The Bioinformatics Unit of the Instituto de Parasitología y Biomedicina López-Neyra (IPBLN) supports researchers in their analyses. Bioinformatics integrates advances in information technology and computing applied to biotechnology and the biological sciences, and the unit addresses needs related to data analysis and to the management, integration and visualization of knowledge.

Its main activities are:

  • Data analysis: analysis of data from any genomic technology (e.g. microarrays, high-throughput sequencing) or proteomic technology (e.g. iTRAQ).
  • Bioinformatics tools: development of custom tools to analyse, understand and display relevant biological data.
  • Computing infrastructure: building and administering a modern scientific computing infrastructure for analysing large amounts of data.
  • Courses: training in bioinformatics tools, statistics and programming of routine tasks.
