I am a Computer Science Engineer who likes Biology. From 2007 to 2010 I worked as a computer engineer at Indra Systems. In 2009 I realized my interest in biology and decided to study a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. During the master I did my Master Thesis at the Center for Biological Sequence Analysis (CBS) in Copenhagen, developing a text mining tool with Dr. Karine Audouze. In 2010, at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), Prof. Juan Antonio García hired me as a bioinformatician for his group, where I worked for five years on NGS data analysis, studying the behavior of virus infection in plants and other organisms. In 2013 I shared my expertise in bioinformatics with Dr. Javier Paz-Ares, analyzing microarray data, transcription factor data and other high-throughput information. To join the Molecular Biology PhD programme at UAM, I completed the Master in Biotechnology at the same university in 2012, and started my PhD in 2013. I also taught in the Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (2014-15 and 2015-16). In 2016 I joined the Human Genetics department of the Leiden University Medical Center, analyzing repeated regions in genomes with high-throughput data. Since December 2019 I work as a computational biologist at CNB-CSIC in the Systems Biotechnology Group led by Juan Nogales, where my main tasks involve the in silico optimization of synthetic microbial consortia and genome-scale metabolic modelling.
